About Traduza Dance Company
Traduza Dance Company was born of the vision of Artistic Director and Brazilian native Valéria Ball. Ball began her modern dance career at Rio de Janeiro University in Brazil. A U.S. resident since 1990, she is committed to raising awareness and appreciation of contemporary dance in Southern Oregon. In 2002, she founded the nonprofit Umpqua Modern Dance Project, an initiative which received an Oregon Arts Commission Recognition grant for its efforts to bring professional modern dance performance to the Roseburg area.

Traduza's 2006 production, "Translation," was an intimate show, blending passionate and energetic performances with film, story-telling, and live music. 2008 's "All Angles," a dynamic gallery experience, was an innovative, mixed-media show, in which dancers and choreographers collaborated with musicians, painters, photographers, and videographers to explore from "all angles" the creative energy that fuels every artist. 2009 has seen the troupe performing "Dance in the Vineyard," a summer series of outdoor shows blending live Brazilian music with high spirited dancing.
