John & Yoko's Year of Peace: The year in question is 1969, when John & Yoko staged the notorious “bed-in” at a Toronto hotel to promote their campaign for world peace.  The Lennon footage reveals him to be utterly honest, unpretentious, gentle, and approachable.
Double Feature with:
Peace of Ganga - Michael Edward Browning. Short Documentary. Exactly one year ago today, on August 26th, 2010, Eugene's Unity of the Valley was graced by the musical mastery of 14th and 15th generation classical Indian musicians. Pandit (Maestro) Vikash Maharaj, master of the sarod, is accompanied on tabla by his oldest son Prabhash Maharaj. Creative collaborators, they promote the richness of classical Indian music while sharing their peaceful philosophy.

4:30 – 5:15: Cinema Pacific presents: The Adrenaline Project/Fringe Festival Shorts!
See the award-winning films from the 2011 Adrenaline Film Project, an intensive, time-limited, narrative film production workshop, and the Fringe Festival, a video art competition featuring remixes of the 1934 silent Chinese classic The Goddess. Six short films. Q&A with festival organizers and filmmakers.

5:30 – 6:15: The Trauma Healing Project presents: Digital Stories. Trauma Healing Project, a non-profit, provides recovery/support to any person or group in our community impacted by violence, abuse, or other trauma. THP offers the Digital Storytelling Workshop as healing support to local youth and adults to process and heal, and to educate the wider community. Each video is 3-5 minutes in length. Filmmakers will be present to discuss their experiences with the audience. Selections include:

US Premiere of Capoeira: Fly Away Beetle - Cosmos Corbin, Documentary. Three world-renowned Capoeira masters, along with rare old footage and modern exhibitions of Capoeira, tell the stories and the connections of the art form to slavery. African Candomble and magic are discovered as tales of the legendary Besouro (the flying Capoeirista) aquaint us with a mystical and enigmatic figure, as much legendary as historical, who mastered the arts of African magic. 3:00- 4:30: MindFreedom presents: Take These Broken Wings: Recovery from Schizophrenia without Medication. Daniel Mackler.  A documentary told through the personal stories of Joanne Greenberg and Catherine Penney, it describes “schizophrenia” as a recoverable condition rather than a life-long malady requiring life-long medication. Q&A facilitated by MindFreedom International

4:45 – 5:45: Making Music, Building Bridges Elaine Vradenburgh, Documentary. This story of Kutsinara introduces us to Zimbabwean Music Masters and the dynamic Eugene, Oregon music community that has grown up around a great appreciation for traditional music.

Good Works Film Festival & Bijou Arts Cinema present: S'Ain't Misbehavin': The Wavy Gravy Movie Michelle Esrick, Documentary. Beat poet turned Merry Prankster, Hog Farm commune member, peace activist, clown, husband, father and flavor of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, a hippie clown who is serious about being happy and helping others be happy, too.
